I was looking through my program on add/remove programs and I came across something that I am unfamiliar with called PunkBuster Services Inc. I read up on it and it is an anti-cheat checker. Did I get this from the con server? I know that they are running ACE for those of us that use Windows 7.

As far as I know, it's from CoD UO. Not sure if UT uses it also.

PunkBuster is used in many different games. I think UT2004 even uses it. I know that America's Army also uses it. It's a pretty good anti-cheat but it hasn't been adapted for UT99 and probably never will be.

ACE is being developed by a guy named Anthrax specifically because of the Win7/64 bug and it has many, many different improvements. He even fixed engine level bugs and optimized it to run on newer, multi-core systems. My gaming experience is probably 10 times better on an ACE server running Win7/64 than any other OS on any server. The first official release should be out this weekend. I'm excited because I'm tired as hell of having to boot into Vista32 just to play on ladder matches and UTDC protected servers.

I can't play ladder matches on FN. I have tried the dual boot, and I didn't like it. I love win7 64 with my quad core. It kicks ass. But I need a better video card. I still have one more system to build before I can get that. But I really didn't know where that came from. I have never played any of the games that it is normally associated with. I guess I will leave it alone.

Thanks

Actually, you can play ladder matches now. All ladder servers have been updated to ACE which not only supports, but improves gameplay for Win7/64 players. Have a good one.
